Homecoming 2026

Oct. 16, 2026
Dr. Dearden bringing a fiery element to the magic show

Homecoming 2026 for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry was a great success! Alumni and their families came and enjoyed J Dawgs, a baked potato bar, and nitrogen ice cream.

Families visited the lab, learning how to make volcanoes in beakers and launching bottle rockets outside. Children participated in a hands-on activity led by Dr. Macedone. The evening culminated in a magic show performed by Dr. David Dearden. The crowd watched as Dr. Dearden caused a fiery reaction from a balloon, turned liquids to solids, and more. One alumna recalled fond memories of working in a lab as a graduate student and was excited to attend the event. She had attended previous years and was excited to now attend with her daughter.

A huge thanks to all of the alumni who attended and to the faculty and staff who made the event possible!
