Jude Osasere Osayawe 2025 ACS Pharma Scholars Award
Feb. 14, 2025

The department wishes to congratulate Jude K. Osasere Osayawe for his placement in the 2025 ACS Pharma Scholars cohort!
The ACS Pharma Scholars program is for graduate students interested in a career path in the pharmaceutical industry. Individuals awarded into the program receive a $1500 stipend to travel to Washington D.C. to present their research alongside other awardees. Participants will also be paired with professionals from the pharmaceutical career for discussions on research and what experience in the field looks like.
Jude’s main area of research explores a new strategy for a more effective synthesis of dehydroamino acids-containing peptides and a new and improved way to synthesize the anti-HIV natural product Virosinine. His research also includes total synthesis of Thioviridamide, microwave-promoted synthesis of 1-Tetralones, formal γ-C(sp3)-H Activation (with Dr. Jatinder Singh), and formation of dehydroamino acids from synthesized β-Hydroxylvaline and Threonine (with BYU student Stephanie Garcia).
Jude shared his thoughts on receiving the award: “I am truly honoured to have been selected as a 2025 ACS Pharma Scholar. This ultimately fuels my passion for advancing pharmaceutical research and inspires me to contribute meaningfully to science and global health. Thank you for this incredible opportunity.”
We wish Jude all the best as he continues his research!
